AOSB AWARDS FOR R&D AND INNOVATION

May 31, 2023

MORE THAN AN INDUSTRIAL ZONE!

AOSB AWARDS FOR R&D AND INNOVATION

 AOSB BOARD CHAIRMAN SÜTCÜ:

"THE BEST INVESTMENT IS AN INVESTMENT IN PEOPLE"

The winners of the 3rd National Industry-Oriented R&D and Innovation Project Competition of Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone (AOSB), which supports change and continuous renewal, encourages R&D and innovation for a livable environment, sustainable economic development and contribution to Turkey's competitive power, were awarded at a ceremony.

The award ceremony of the national competition organized by AOSB, which supports innovation, is not content with providing smooth and uninterrupted production opportunities to its participants who strengthen the economy with their production, export and employment, and brings knowledge to production with university-industry cooperation, was held.

Bekir Sütcü, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AOSB, started his speech at the opening of the ceremony, where 500 thousand TL prize money was distributed, by talking about the aims of the project.

Sütcü emphasized the importance of the competition, which they organized in order to benefit the Turkish industry, to bring projects with high added value to the national economy, to spread the R&D and Innovation culture, to strengthen university-industry cooperation, to initiate new partnerships in R&D and Innovation studies and to provide a platform where ideas on this subject can be presented and implemented.

President Sütcü said, "As an industrialist, investing, opening businesses, creating employment and producing value-added products are among our main goals. These can only be realized with the integration of financial and human resources, entrepreneurial desire, the suitability of the economic conjuncture, experience and opportunities. When these conditions come together, you can reach your desired goal and contribute to the development of the country's economy. However, no investment, no factory is more valuable than developing the entrepreneurship culture of our people, encouraging them, supporting scientific studies, strengthening our universities, and emphasizing R&D activities."

Stating that the best investment is the investment made in human beings based on the saying "Let the People Live so that the State can Live", AOSB Chairman Sütcü said the following:

"This is such an investment that, rather than getting results in the short term, it requires dealing with project owners one-on-one, taking the time to mentor them, being patient, and weaving them like a carpet. In short, it requires creating a culture."

"THESE OPPORTUNITIES DID NOT EXIST WHEN WE STARTED OUR INDUSTRIALIZATION"

Sütcü reminded that there were no platforms or guides that they could reach in this way when they embarked on their industrial journey, and continued as follows:

"We have tried to create a production environment by focusing only on the products we can trade, whereas today there are many platforms trying to guide investors and entrepreneurs. If this ecosystem is utilized, it is possible to create a more qualified production environment and increase the level of welfare. For this reason, we advise our young people, academics and students to make an effort to benefit from these platforms at the point of developing their entrepreneurship under any circumstances, and to insist on developing their projects to achieve their dreams. As a matter of fact, we think that the need of our country is fundamentally dependent on the development of entrepreneurship."

Drawing attention to the global competition conditions, Sütcü said, "In order to survive in the global market, to achieve a successful export performance and competitive advantage and to ensure efficiency, we have to give more importance to R&D and Innovation activities than ever before."

President Sütcü congratulated all participants of the competition as well as the ranking projects and concluded his words by saying, "I believe that the valuable ideas that emerged through this competition will find application in the industry, and I would like to thank everyone who participated and contributed to our competition."

After the speech of AOSB President Sütcü, AOSB Regional Director Ersin Akpınar and the President of the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Association, Founder of the Digital Incubation Center, Journalist Esra Özden introduced the projects of the participants who ranked in the competition and gave their awards.
